acrylic paint on shirts/sweater?

um not sure how to start this so here goes: i recently became interested in designing t-shirts and sweaters but the only paint i have is acrylic (sold at my school). i know that it is too thick and will end up cracking but i heard you can use fabric medium so it seeps into the material a little better. also i heard about “heat setting” as well and wondered if this would help the design stay longer.
so what can i do to make the acrylic paint stay longer? i dont have the money to get a silk screening kit so im sticking with acrylic.
any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated =)

Forget sweaters. Won’t work.

Get either the fabric medium of actual fabric paint. Read the labels. They’re all different
