What sort of ink to use while screen printing on glossy plastic?
I want to start printing on plastic sheets and i’m only familiar with fabric ink, plastisol ink (which is not likely to be the one), and solvent ink. What else is there and what’s suitable?
You can not determine ink by the statement glossy plastic. In order to determine an ink to need to know what plastic you are printing on. Most plastics that you will want to print on will need to be print treated. I am assuming you want to print conventional and not UV. An ink rep would be the best for you to discuss your project with. Nazdar Source One or Midwest Sign and Screen are a couple of distributors that have inside sales reps that can get you started. Nazdar Source One also has information about the ink series they carry on their web site. There are many choices as far as inks and manufactures and you will always need to test ink before printing. Cross hatch testing is popular for testing ink on “plastics” you score the ink with a razor blade and put tape over the scored area then pull the tape off to see if the ink is sticking to the plastic.
