Convert meters squared to meters?
this is probably a dumb question, but I’m drawing a blank here.
I’m supposed to convert 1.7 meters squared into meters for part of a physics problem, but I don’t know how to do this. help?
this is the question: When excessive heat is produced within the body, it must be transferred to the skin and dispersed if the temperature at the body interior is to be maintained at the normal value of 37 degrees celsius. One possible mechanism for transfer is conduction through body tissue. Suppose that heat travels through .030 m of fat in reaching the skin, which has a total surface area of 1.7 meters squared and a temperature of 34 degrees celsius. Find the amount of heat that reaches the skin in half an hour (1800s).
I know the formula and have everything plugged in except for the area, because it’s supposed to be in meters.
Meters is not a unit of area, so that can’t be right.
Note that 1.7m squared is 1.7 x 1.7 square meters. Maybe that’s what you’re after?
