What better way for a new roof, hot mop "or" peel and stick "?
I have a new roof and the contractor I says something different, but none of them really make sense … you just sell what they use. Let me know what you think and why. (I would really appreciate any knowledge professionals and owners). By the way, I live in Florida and I will make a concrete tile roof.
Hi James, I am a Florida license for roofing contractor and am very familiar with both systems. The Hot "clean" system is sometimes called the system from 30 to 90, because it consists of 90 # roll, hot wiped over 30 # felt, which is nailed to the roof terrace. It has been the industry standard for decades and became a tough bottom layer important for tile. The trend however, moves to "peel and stick" sub-layers, mainly for insurance purposes. Insurance companies, such as increased wind resistance in the sub-layer that is attached directly to the terrace on the roof instead of nailing. Some insurance companies will give you a break on their premiums for this purpose. The other factor driving transition to self-adhesive membranes is that insurance companies hate the dangers of working with hot asphalt, especially on an incline.
