Why do you suppose the U.S. has so many serial murderers, when they are not a problem in other cultures?
Yes, we lead the pack. It is estimated that there may be as many as 1,000 serial murderers whose crimes have not yet been connected by Law Enforcement and who wander the country, caught in their phobia, killing for the fun of it. That’s not counting the ones that are known and on the Most Wanted List, as well as those already caught and convicted.
Reports tells us that Europe has very few serial killers. In fact, in many countries they are virtually non-existent. England, with its Jack the Ripper and a doctor who killed his patients, has had its share. But no country has as many as the U.S.A.
What could be the cause of this? Is it something in our food, our water, our culture, our freedoms? What turns an average looking young man like Ted Bundy into a monster? Some might believe that movies and television might bring on these urges, but the truth is, Europe is saturated with American films. Why does this affliction affect males far more than females?
There are several answers to this question. In contrast, the fact is that we don’t know. Most is guess-work. There are two reasons for crime. One is desperation. The other is rebellion. Obviously, serial killers are not desperate for material needs such as food or shelter. They might be psychologically desperate for a feeling of power. That also fits rebellion. Those who rebel are seeking power or control.
You believe that the U. S. A. has freedom. You are incorrect. The U. S. A. has an illusion of freedom. Sometimes, too much freedom is very confining and restraining. When there are bullies freedom is limited for those who are bullied. When life is so unfair, freedom is there for the privelaged. When so many see others with so much more than they have, it is the others who have freedom. When a person lives in fear of others, then they lose freedom to fear. When people lose hope of bettering their life, others seem to have power over them.
All these are just ideas, but the reality is unknown. Serial killers are in pain. We don’t understand that pain. Some hate their crimes so much that they don’t want to acknowledge the criminal’s pain, but it’s there.
