Guitar Pickguard Printing?
For my upcoming wedding we’ll have our guests signing a white guitar instead of a guest book. I have some custom artwork that I’d like to put on the pick guard but I don’t know how to go about it. It’s black and white but some of the lines are pretty fine so vinyl probably wouldn’t work. Keep in mind that it’s a display piece and the art does not have to survive actual playing of the guitar. I’m told silk screening would work, though it would be rather expensive to have a one-off piece done, does anyone know of any other options?
Also worthy of note, I haven’t purchased the guitar yet but I plan on a solid white guitar with white pick guard. If anyone has any suggestions as to guitars that might be more usable for this than others I’ll gladly take advice on that also

If you are not going to play the guitar, you can paint the pickguard. I have seen hand painted pickguards and air brushed ones. What type of guitar is it. That would tell me what finish it has on it. I am guessing the guitar is a fairly new one and probably inexpensive. If so, the finish is most likely urethane. So any urethane based paints would work without a negative reaction with the existing finish.

Another thought on how you can put on the artwork. If you have someone who can work it up on a computer, you can buy decal type paper at office suppy stores. Then print the graphic on to the decal paper and apply it to the pickguard.
